Tutoring
I will get YOUR 5th or 6th grade student ready for their middle school Math Classes!Virtual Math Tutoring
While most teachers hated distance learning during the COVID times of 20-21, I actually LOVED it and thrived! With my undergrad degree in computer science and many years as an internet based entrepreneur then teacher, virtual education was literally right-smack-dab in the middle of my wheelhouse.
I heard teachers complain of student engagement but my kiddos were there early (for the online dance party & countdown timer) with cameras on, excited & ready to go. On an academic level we worked hard and achieved much but fun was always intertwined. I feel that if I am not having fun then my students aren’t either and brain research suggests fun is required for long term memory.
Seemed the crazier and goofier I was, the more engaged and interactive the kids were. Learning was undoubtedly taking place. After all, learning and play are far from being mutually exclusive. Crazy hats, nutty sunglasses, sound effects, magic tricks, puppets, a ukulele and more became my daily “shtick”. Kids logged on just to see what I might do (even if I caught the older 8th graders rolling their eyes a time or two!).
Once we went back to the classroom I sadly no longer had my “bag of tricks” within reach and I know I wasn’t the same teacher. I missed online teaching so much I began tutoring part-time as my “side hustle”. I was virtually helping kids one-on-one in math from all over the country. My schedule actually filled too quickly through word of mouth (a good problem to have).
I’d love to help your child with their math too…
